AirWayBill’s Shipping Revolution

Launching a destination app for peer-to-peer shopping and shipping on three priority routes was a fun and exciting project, proving once again how the right content and creatives are key for growth in today’s digital age.

The Brief

Ever wanted to order something but couldn’t afford the international shipping? How about having extra space in your suitcase when you’re traveling? Want to earn as you travel? These problems have one unique solution: AirWayBill – an app that connects shippers with shoppers with travelers, to ship or shop for items they need for a nominal fee. Our brief was to launch the destination app for this peer-to-peer shopping and shipping in 3 priority markets: (1) US to India (2) US to Egypt (3) KSA to Egypt.

Our Strategy

As always, we approached the challenge with results in mind. Research is always important. Since we were driven by hard KPIs, we compiled best practices for similar launches and listed down the core success criteria that we should be targeting. By identifying key channels to target the customers, we were able to assess marketing vehicles and the optimal channel mix for the maximum results and finalizing a roll-out plan. This helped us to tackle the task at hand optimally. Further, by drafting set communication objectives, we focused on content. We developed engaging content and creatives based on AWB’s strategic go-to-market plan; creating stories that targeted publications picked up – all driving downloads and utilization of this amazing app.

The Results

We educated the targeted and geo-focused audience about how AirWayBill facilitated both shopping and shipping. With over 50,000 downloads in the first 6 months, it was clear that our strategy was a success and AWB was a sensation. This can easily be seen by an astounding 950% growth in their online presence within these 6 months. With press features in publications and portals such as Forbes, Vice, Entrepreneur ME and Khaleej Times, we know AWB has arrived.
